    Test Preparation

To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guideline:

    • General Preparation:
      • Remove all metal objects (jewelry, watches, piercings, etc.) before the scan.
      • Wear comfortable clothing without metal zippers or buttons. You may be provided with a hospital gown.
      • Inform your doctor if you have any metal implants, pacemakers, or medical devices, as these may interfere with the MRI.
    • Fasting & Medication:
      • Fasting is not required for most ankle MRI scans.
      • If an MRI with contrast is needed, you may need to fast for 4–6 hours before the test.
      • Inform your doctor about any kidney issues or allergies if contrast dye will be used.
    • Contrast Injection (if required):
      • A contrast agent (gadolinium dye) may be injected for clearer images if needed.
      • The dye is administered through an IV, and you may feel a cool sensation during the injection.
      Sedation (if needed):
      • If you have claustrophobia or difficulty staying still, mild sedation may be an option.
    • During the MRI:
      • The test takes 30–45 minutes. You must lie still to get clear images.
      • Your left foot and ankle will be positioned inside the MRI machine.
      • The MRI scanner makes loud knocking sounds, and earplugs or headphones may be provided.
