An X-Ray Soft Tissue Neck Lateral View is a side-view X-ray that focuses on the soft tissue structures of the neck. This test helps in evaluating the airway, pharynx, larynx, trachea, tonsils, and surrounding soft tissues.
It is especially useful in children or adults with breathing difficulties, swallowing issues, or suspected infections.

Description

Test Preparation

 Fasting:
o Not required unless your doctor instructs otherwise.
 Clothing & Accessories:
o Wear comfortable clothes or a gown may be provided.
o Remove all metallic items from the neck and head area:
Necklaces
Earrings
Hair clips
Hearing aids
Removable dental appliances (if advised)
 Inform the Radiologist If:
o You are pregnant or might be pregnant
o You’ve had neck surgeries or trauma
o You have implants or medical devices in the neck
 During the Procedure:
o You will be asked to stand or sit upright, facing sideways to the X-ray machine.
o You must remain still and may be asked to hold your breath briefly during the exposure.
o A lead apron may be provided to protect the rest of your body from radiation.
