X-RAY D-L Spine (LATERAL)

300.00

An X-Ray D-L Spine (Lateral View) is a side-view X-ray of the dorsolumbar spine, which includes both the thoracic (dorsal) and lumbar regions. This imaging provides a detailed look at the vertebrae, intervertebral discs, spinal curvature, and alignment from the side, which can reveal conditions not always visible in a front-view (AP) X-ray.

    Test Preparation

Usually, the test requires minimal preparation, but here are important steps to follow:

    • Clothing: Wear loose, comfortable clothing or change into a hospital gown.
    • Remove metal items: Take off belts, jewelry, zippers, or anything metallic near the waist, back, or chest.
    • Bowel Preparation (if advised): In some cases, your doctor may recommend a mild laxative or enema to reduce bowel gas or stool that could interfere with the image.
    • Fasting: Not needed.
    • Pregnancy: Inform the technician if you are or might be pregnant.

    During the Test
    • You will be asked to lie on your side or stand sideways, depending on your condition and equipment.
    • The technician will help you position your body to properly align the dorsolumbar spine.
    • You may be asked to stay still and hold your breath briefly during the X-ray to prevent motion blur.
    • The procedure is painless and typically takes about 5–10 minutes.

    After the Test
    • You can resume your normal activities immediately.
    • A radiologist will analyze the images and send the results to your referring doctor
