Description
Why It’s Done:
• To assist in diagnosing Sjögren’s syndrome, especially in individuals with dry eyes, dry mouth, or joint pain.
• To support the diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) or other autoimmune disorders.
• To investigate unexplained symptoms such as fatigue, arthritis, rashes, or swollen glands.
• To assess risk factors in pregnant women, as SS-B antibodies can be associated with neonatal lupus and congenital heart block in newborns.
Preparation:
• Fasting: Not required.
• Medications: Inform your healthcare provider about any medications you are taking, particularly immunosuppressive drugs, as they may influence test results.
• Special Instructions:
o No special preparation is necessary.
