    Description

    Test Preparation

    To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guidelines:
    Clothing:
    • Wear loose, comfortable clothing that doesn’t restrict your chest or breathing.
    • Avoid tight belts or tops.
     Medications:
    • Ask your doctor whether to stop using any inhalers, bronchodilators, or respiratory medications before the test. You may need to pause these for a few hours or more depending on the medication.
    • Bring a list of all medications you’re taking.
    Food & Drink:
    • Avoid heavy meals for at least 2 hours before the test.
    • Avoid caffeinated beverages (like tea, coffee, energy drinks) before the test as they can affect results.
    Smoking & Alcohol:
    • Do not smoke for at least 4–6 hours before the test.
    • Avoid alcohol the day before the test.
    Physical Activity:
    • Avoid strenuous exercise at least 30 minutes to 1 hour before testing.
     Other Tips:
    • If you use dentures, wear them unless advised otherwise.
    • Inform the technician if you are feeling dizzy, unwell, or have had recent chest pain or surgery.
