Test Preparation
To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guideline:
Fasting Requirement
• Avoid eating for 4-6 hours before the scan.
• You may drink water, but avoid caffeinated, dairy-based, or sugary drinks.
Contrast Injection Considerations (If Contrast is Used)
• A gadolinium-based contrast agent is administered through an IV.
• Inform your doctor if you have:
Kidney disease or reduced kidney function, as contrast may not be safe.
Allergies to contrast agents or any history of allergic reactions.
Clothing & Accessories
• Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing without metal fasteners, zippers, or buttons.
• Remove jewelry, watches, piercings, hearing aids, or metallic objects before the scan.
Medical Conditions & Pregnancy
• Notify your doctor if you are pregnant or suspect pregnancy.
• If you have metal implants, pacemakers, or medical devices, inform the technician.
• If you have claustrophobia, discuss with your doctor. A mild sedative can be given if needed.
Medication Guidelines
• Continue taking prescribed medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.
• If you are diabetic and take Metformin, consult your doctor about any necessary modifications.
Breathing & Motion Instructions
• You may be asked to hold your breath for short periods during the scan.
• Remain still to avoid motion blur and get clearer images.
