    Test Preparation

To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guideline:

    • General Preparation:
      • Remove all metal objects (jewelry, piercings, watches, etc.) to avoid interference with the MRI machine’s magnetic field.
      • Wear loose, comfortable clothing without metal zippers or buttons. You may be asked to change into a hospital gown.
      • Inform your doctor if you have any metal implants, pacemakers, artificial joints, or surgical clips, as these may interfere with the MRI.
    • Fasting & Medication:
      • Fasting is not required for most thigh MRI scans.
      • If the MRI requires contrast dye, you may need to fast for 4–6 hours before the test.
      • Inform your doctor about any medications you are taking, especially if they could affect kidney function or contrast use.
    • Contrast Injection (if required):
      • A contrast agent (gadolinium dye) may be injected to enhance the clarity of images, especially for soft tissue evaluation.
      • You may feel a cool sensation during the contrast injection. It is normal and will pass quickly.
      • Inform your doctor if you have any allergies or a history of contrast reactions.
      Sedation (if needed):
      • If you are claustrophobic or find it hard to remain still for long periods, sedation may be offered to help you relax during the procedure.
    • During the MRI:
      • The test typically lasts 30–60 minutes.
      • You must lie still to get clear images, and your left thigh will be positioned inside the MRI machine.
