Description
Test Preparation
To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guideline:
• Fasting: Generally, fasting is not required unless contrast dye is used. If contrast is needed, you may be asked to avoid food/drinks for 4-6 hours before the scan.
• Clothing & Accessories: Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing without metal (zippers, buttons, or jewelry). You may need to change into a hospital gown.
• Metal Objects: Remove all metal objects, including earrings, watches, belts, and glasses. MRI uses strong magnets, which can interfere with metal items.
• Pacemakers & Implants: Inform the radiologist if you have any metal implants, pacemakers, cochlear implants, or aneurysm clips, as MRI may not be safe in such cases.
• Claustrophobia: If you have claustrophobia (fear of enclosed spaces), inform your doctor. A mild sedative may be prescribed.
• Pregnancy & Breastfeeding: Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as MRI is generally safe but contrast dye might require caution.
• Contrast Dye (if applicable): If contrast is used, inform the technician about any history of allergies, kidney disease, or asthma.
