Why It’s Done:
This test is performed to:
• Confirm a recent or active measles infection, especially when symptoms are present (fever, rash, cough, runny nose, red eyes)
• Support outbreak investigation or monitor the spread of measles
• Determine immune status in suspected or exposed individuals
• Confirm diagnosis in individuals who may not have classic symptoms but have been exposed
It is often used when clinical symptoms are unclear or to confirm cases for public health reporting.
Preparation:
• No fasting or special preparation is required.
• A blood sample is taken from a vein in your arm.
• Inform your doctor about any recent vaccinations or illnesses, as they may influence test interpretation.
