F18 – Choline PET CT With Comparision

44,000.00

The F18 – Choline PET CT with Comparison is an advanced nuclear imaging test primarily used for the detection and evaluation of prostate cancer and its recurrence. This scan uses a radioactive tracer known as Fluorine-18 labeled choline (F18-Choline) which is absorbed by rapidly growing cancer cells, particularly those associated with the prostate. The “with comparison” component means the results will be assessed against prior imaging studies (such as previous PET/CT, MRI, or CT scans) to monitor disease progression, response to treatment, or recurrence.

    Description

    Why It’s Done:

    • To detect prostate cancer recurrence, especially when PSA levels rise after treatment.
    • To evaluate metastasis or the spread of prostate cancer to lymph nodes, bones, or other organs.
    • To assist in treatment planning by identifying precise tumor locations.
    • To compare with prior imaging studies for disease monitoring or response assessment.

    Preparation:

    • Fasting: You may be asked to avoid food and drink (except water) for 4–6 hours prior to the scan.
    • Hydration: Drink plenty of water before the scan to help flush the tracer from your body afterward.
    • Medications: Inform your doctor of any medications you are taking. You can usually take them unless instructed otherwise.
    • Avoid physical exertion: Refrain from strenuous physical activity for 24 hours before the test.
    • Medical history: Bring prior imaging reports or scans if they’re being used for comparison.
    • Allergies and medical conditions: Inform the healthcare provider if you have kidney problems, diabetes, or allergies to contrast material.
    • Clothing: Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing; you may be asked to change into a gown for the scan.
    • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Notify your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
