Test Preparation
To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guideline:
- Fasting:
• Fasting for 4-6 hours is required if contrast dye is used.
• If no contrast is needed, fasting is not required. - Metal Object Removal:
• Remove earrings, hairpins, glasses, dentures, and any metallic accessories near the head. - IV Contrast Injection (If Used):
• A contrast dye (iodine-based) is injected into a vein to enhance imaging.
• Inform your doctor if you have:
Allergies to iodine or contrast agents
Kidney disease or diabetes (contrast may affect kidney function)
Pregnancy or breastfeeding - Medication Adjustments (If Needed):
• If you have diabetes and take Metformin, consult your doctor as it may need to be stopped before and after the scan to prevent kidney issues. - Breathing & Positioning Instructions:
• You will need to lie still on the scanning table.
• You may be asked to hold your breath briefly during image capture. - Post-Procedure Care:
• Drink plenty of water to help flush the contrast from your system.
• If you experience allergic reactions (rash, difficulty breathing), inform the doctor immediately
