Test Preparation
To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guideline:
Fasting Instructions
•Do not eat for at least 4-6 hours before the test.
•Clear liquids (water, black coffee, tea without milk) may be allowed.
•Avoid dairy, carbonated drinks, and juices with pulp.
Hydration
•You may be required to drink plenty of water before the test, especially for CT Urography, to ensure a full bladder.
Medication Guidelines
•Continue regular medications unless instructed otherwise.
•Diabetic patients on Metformin may need to stop the medication 24 hours before and after the test (consult your doctor).
Contrast Dye Allergy Precautions
•Inform your doctor if you have allergies to iodine-based contrast dye.
•If allergic, a pre-medication regimen (antihistamines, steroids) may be prescribed.
Clothing & Accessories
•Wear loose, comfortable clothing.
•Remove jewelry, metal objects, piercings, and belts as they can interfere with imaging.
Special Precautions
•Pregnancy Alert: Pregnant women should avoid this test due to radiation exposure.
•Kidney Function Check: Patients with kidney disease may need a creatinine blood test before IV contrast is given.
