Test Preparation
Preparation depends on the age and condition of the patient:
For Infants/Children:
• Sleep is crucial: The child must be asleep or very calm during the test.
• Parents are often asked to:
o Keep the child awake before the test so they are tired and can sleep during the test.
o Feed the child just before the test to help them fall asleep.
o Avoid applying oil/cream on the scalp as it may interfere with the electrode connection.
For Adults:
• Usually no special preparation is required.
• Recommended to:
o Wash hair before the test and avoid hair products.
o Avoid caffeine or stimulants before the test as they may affect relaxation.
o Wear comfortable clothing.
o Be relaxed and still during the test.
