Auto Immune Hepatitis (Ama, Ana, Asma, Lkm)

6,000.00

The Autoimmune Hepatitis Panel is a group of blood tests that detect autoantibodies commonly associated with autoimmune hepatitis, a condition in which the body’s immune system attacks liver cells, causing inflammation and damage.
The panel includes tests for:
• AMA (Antimitochondrial Antibodies) – often associated with primary biliary cholangitis but can be present in autoimmune hepatitis
• ANA (Antinuclear Antibodies) – antibodies targeting cell nuclei, frequently positive in autoimmune diseases
• ASMA (Anti-Smooth Muscle Antibodies) – antibodies targeting smooth muscle components, strongly linked to autoimmune hepatitis
• LKM (Liver Kidney Microsomal Antibodies) – antibodies directed against liver and kidney microsomal enzymes, linked to autoimmune hepatitis type 2
These tests help identify the presence and type of autoimmune liver disease

    Description

    Why It’s Done:

    The panel is ordered to:
    • Diagnose autoimmune hepatitis or differentiate it from other liver diseases
    • Investigate unexplained liver inflammation or elevated liver enzymes
    • Monitor disease activity and response to treatment
    • Help classify the subtype of autoimmune hepatitis for targeted management
    • Rule out other autoimmune liver conditions like primary biliary cholangitis or autoimmune cholangitis

    Preparation:

    • No special preparation such as fasting is required.
    • A blood sample will be drawn.
    • Inform your doctor about any medications or supplements, as some drugs may affect antibody levels.
    • Inform if you have a history of other autoimmune diseases.
