Why It’s Done:
• To diagnose allergy to house dust mites in individuals suffering from symptoms such as sneezing, nasal congestion, itchy eyes, coughing, wheezing, or eczema.
• To identify indoor environmental triggers contributing to allergic rhinitis, asthma, or atopic dermatitis.
• To guide treatment plans, including allergen avoidance and immunotherapy.
• To evaluate the severity of dust mite allergy and monitor treatment response.
Preparation:
• For blood tests:
– No fasting or special preparation required.
– Continue your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.
• For skin tests:
– Avoid antihistamines for 3–7 days before testing as they can interfere with results (consult your healthcare provider).
– Inform your healthcare provider of any medications you are taking.
– Wear clothing that provides easy access to your skin, such as short sleeves
