Description
Why It’s Done:
• To diagnose allergy to Bermuda grass pollen in individuals experiencing symptoms such as sneezing, nasal congestion, itchy or watery eyes, coughing, wheezing, or asthma during grass pollen seasons.
• To identify environmental allergens responsible for seasonal allergies.
• To guide allergen avoidance and treatment plans including medications and immunotherapy.
• To evaluate allergic triggers in people with seasonal respiratory or skin allergy symptoms.
Preparation:
• For blood tests:
– No fasting or special preparation required.
– Continue medications unless your healthcare provider advises otherwise.
• For skin tests:
– Avoid antihistamines for 3 to 7 days before the test as they may interfere with results (consult your doctor).
– Inform your healthcare provider about all medications you are taking.
– Wear clothing that allows easy access to the skin, such as short sleeves
