CT Head (Plain +Contrast)

4,000.00

A CT Head (Brain CT) with Plain and Contrast is a computed tomography (CT) scan used to obtain detailed images of the brain, skull, and surrounding structures. It helps diagnose:

• Stroke (ischemic or hemorrhagic)
• Brain tumors and infections (abscesses, meningitis, encephalitis)
• Head injuries, fractures, and bleeding (hematomas, aneurysms)
• Hydrocephalus (fluid buildup in the brain)
• Neurological conditions like multiple sclerosis (MS)

A plain (non-contrast) scan provides a basic structural view, while a contrast-enhanced scan helps highlight blood vessels, tumors, and abnormal tissue

Description

Test Preparation

To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guideline:

  • Fasting:
    • Fasting for 4-6 hours is required if contrast dye is used.
    • If no contrast is needed, fasting is not required.
  • Metal Object Removal:
    • Remove earrings, hairpins, glasses, dentures, and any metallic accessories near the head.
  • IV Contrast Injection (If Used):
    • A contrast dye (iodine-based) is injected into a vein to enhance imaging.
    • Inform your doctor if you have:
Allergies to iodine or contrast agents
Kidney disease or diabetes (contrast may affect kidney function)
    Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Medication Adjustments (If Needed):
    • If you have diabetes and take Metformin, consult your doctor as it may need to be stopped before and after the scan to prevent kidney issues.
  • Breathing & Positioning Instructions:
    • You will need to lie still on the scanning table.
    • You may be asked to hold your breath briefly during image capture.
  • Post-Procedure Care:
    • Drink plenty of water to help flush the contrast from your system.
    • If you experience allergic reactions (rash, difficulty breathing), inform the doctor immediately
