Why It’s Done:
• To detect and locate neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) in the body.
• To evaluate metastasis or spread of NETs to other organs.
• To monitor tumor progression or recurrence after treatment.
• To assess treatment response and plan further management.
• To compare with previous imaging for accurate follow-up.
Preparation:
• Fasting: No fasting is generally required, but follow any specific instructions given by your doctor.
• Hydration: Drink plenty of water before and after the scan to help flush the tracer from your body.
• Medications: Continue your regular medications unless advised otherwise. Inform your doctor about any somatostatin analog therapy.
• Avoid strenuous activity: Refrain from intense physical activity for 24 hours before the test.
• Medical history: Bring previous imaging reports or scans for comparison.
• Clothing: Wear comfortable clothes and remove any metal accessories. You may be asked to change into a hospital gown.
• Pregnancy/Breastfeeding: Notify the medical staff if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
