F18 – NOTA NOC PET CT

32,000.00

The F-18 NOTA-NOC PET CT scan is an advanced diagnostic imaging test used primarily for detecting and evaluating neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). It uses a radiotracer known as F-18 NOTA-Octreotide (NOTA-NOC), which targets somatostatin receptors (SSTRs) that are highly expressed in many neuroendocrine tumors.
This test combines:
• PET (Positron Emission Tomography) for detecting metabolic activity and receptor expression, and
• CT (Computed Tomography) for detailed anatomical information.
The F-18 NOTA-NOC tracer offers high image quality, faster imaging times, and a favorable radiation profile compared to traditional tracers like Ga-68 DOTANOC.

    Description

    Why It’s Done

The F-18 NOTA-NOC PET CT scan is primarily used for the diagnosis, staging, and follow-up of neuroendocrine tumors, including:
    • Carcinoid tumors
    • Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PNETs)
    • Pheochromocytomas and paragangliomas
    • Medullary thyroid carcinoma
    • Other NETs of unknown primary origin
    Clinical purposes include:
    • Detecting primary and metastatic lesions
    • Assessing somatostatin receptor status to determine eligibility for peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT)
    • Evaluating recurrence or progression
    • Monitoring treatment response
This scan provides both functional and anatomical data, making it a vital tool in the management of NETs.

    Preparation

Follow these preparation steps to ensure accurate and safe imaging:
    1. Fasting:
    • Fast for 4–6 hours before the scan (only plain water allowed).
    • Avoid high-protein or high-fat meals the day before the test.
    2. Medications:
    • Continue your regular medications unless instructed otherwise.
    • If you are on somatostatin analog therapy (e.g., octreotide, lanreotide), inform your physician. A temporary pause before the scan may be recommended.
    3. Hydration:
    • Drink plenty of water before and after the scan. Staying hydrated helps with radiotracer distribution and elimination.
    4. Physical Activity:
    • Avoid intense exercise for 24 hours before the scan.
    5. Clothing:
    • Wear comfortable, metal-free clothing. You may need to change into a hospital gown.
    • Remove all jewelry, belts, and metal objects before the scan.
    6. Inform Your Provider If:
    • You are pregnant, breastfeeding, or may be pregnant.
    • You have kidney issues or a history of allergic reactions to imaging agents
