Test Preparation
To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guideline:
Fasting Requirements
• In most cases, no fasting is required for a plain (non-contrast) CTA.
• Some facilities may request 4-6 hours of fasting to ensure better imaging.
Hydration
• Drink plenty of water before and after the test to improve scan quality and overall comfort.
Clothing & Accessories
• Wear loose, comfortable clothing without metal parts.
• Remove metal objects (jewelry, piercings, hearing aids, glasses, hairpins, etc.) from the scan area.
Medication Considerations
• Continue taking regular medications unless otherwise instructed by your doctor.
• Diabetes medications (Metformin, Insulin): No specific restrictions, but always inform the radiologist if you take them.
• Blood thinners (Warfarin, Aspirin): Usually, no need to stop, but confirm with your doctor.
Special Considerations
• Inform the doctor if you are pregnant or have any implants, pacemakers, or metal devices in your body.
