Description
Purpose of the Test:
• To diagnose tuberculosis or other mycobacterial infections
• To identify resistant strains of tuberculosis (e.g., multidrug-resistant TB or MDR-TB)
• To detect latent and active TB infections
• To monitor the effectiveness of TB treatment
• To guide clinicians in selecting appropriate antimicrobial therapy based on drug susceptibility
Preparation Required:
• No fasting required, but specimen collection (e.g., sputum, blood) must be done as per instructions
• Provide accurate clinical history, including any recent exposure to TB or mycobacterial infections
