Why It’s Done
This test is performed to:
• Diagnose or confirm primary biliary cholangitis (PBC)
• Evaluate unexplained abnormal liver function tests or cholestasis
• Monitor disease activity and response to therapy in patients with PBC
• Differentiate PBC from other autoimmune or liver disorders
• Assess prognosis based on antibody levels
Preparation for the Test
• Fasting: Not required.
• Medications: Inform your healthcare provider about any medications or supplements being taken.
• No special preparation is generally needed.
• A blood sample will be drawn from a vein.
