Preparation:
• No special preparation is needed from the patient.
• A clinical specimen (such as sputum, pleural fluid, or tissue) must be collected under sterile conditions and sent promptly to the lab.
• Inform your healthcare provider about any ongoing anti-TB treatment.
• The test requires bacterial culture, so results may take several weeks due to the slow growth rate of Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
