The SMV View is a specialized X-ray projection that captures the base of the skull and facial bones from beneath the chin (submental region) toward the top of the head (vertex). It offers a unique angle to evaluate cranial base structures.

Description

Test Preparation

No Fasting Needed:
o You can eat and drink as normal before the test.
 Clothing & Accessories:
o Wear loose, comfortable clothes.
o You may be asked to change into a hospital gown.
o Remove all metallic items from the head and neck region:
Jewelry
Glasses
Hairpins
Dentures (if applicable)
Hearing aids
 Inform the Radiologist If:
o You are pregnant or suspect pregnancy
o You have any head/neck implants or prior facial surgeries
 During the Procedure:
o You will be asked to tilt your head back, with the top of your head near the X-ray detector and your chin raised.
o Stay completely still to avoid blurry images.
o A lead apron may be placed over your body for protection.
