Description
Test Preparation
This is a simple, non-invasive test with minimal preparation required.
Before the Test:
• Clothing: You’ll likely be asked to change into a hospital gown and remove any upper body clothing.
• Jewelry & Metal Objects: Remove necklaces, earrings, or any metal objects near the shoulder or chest area.
• Pregnancy: Inform the radiographer if you are pregnant or may be pregnant so they can take appropriate safety precautions.
• Medical History: Mention any prior shoulder surgeries, implants, or injuries.
During the Test:
• You’ll either be seated or standing, depending on the equipment.
• For the AP view, the X-ray is taken from the front.
• For the Lateral (Y view), your body will be turned to allow a side profile of the shoulder.
• You’ll be asked to remain still and may need to hold your breath for a moment while the image is taken.
