Test Preparation
Preparation is simple and usually does not require much effort.
General Preparation:
• No fasting or medication restrictions unless advised otherwise by your doctor.
• Wear loose, comfortable clothing, preferably without metal zippers or buttons near the hip area.
• You may be asked to change into a hospital gown.
• Remove all metal objects such as belts, piercings, coins, or jewelry near the pelvic area.
• Inform the technician if you’re pregnant or may be, as precautions will be taken.
On the Day of the Test:
• You’ll be asked to lie flat on your back on the X-ray table.
• The technician will position your right leg appropriately to get the correct AP view of the hip.
• You must stay still during the image to avoid motion blur.
• The procedure is painless and quick, typically taking around 5 to 10 minutes.
