Description
Test Preparation
Usually, no special preparation is required. However, here are standard instructions:
• Clothing: Wear loose, comfortable clothes or you may be asked to wear a hospital gown.
• Remove metal objects: Take off jewelry, belts, or other metal accessories that may obstruct the imaging.
• Pregnancy: Inform the radiologist or technician if you are or may be pregnant.
During the Test
• You’ll be asked to stand or sit in front of the X-ray machine.
• Both shoulders will be positioned appropriately for the APLAT view, with slight angling to get a clear image of the joint.
• You’ll need to stay still while the X-ray is being taken to avoid blurry images.
• The procedure is quick and painless, typically taking about 10–15 minutes.
After the Test
• No recovery time needed — you can go about your day as usual.
• A radiologist will analyze the images and send a report to your doctor for further diagnosis or treatment planning.
