Test Preparation
To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guideline:
Fasting Requirement
• Do not eat or drink for 4-6 hours before the scan.
• Water is usually allowed, but avoid caffeinated, sugary, or dairy-based drinks.
Contrast Injection Considerations (If Contrast is Used)
• A gadolinium-based contrast agent is administered through an IV to enhance urinary tract imaging.
• Inform your doctor if you have:
Kidney disease or reduced kidney function, as contrast agents can affect kidney health.
Allergies to contrast agents or a history of allergic reactions.
Hydration Before the Test
• In some cases, you may be asked to drink extra water before the scan to help visualize the bladder and urinary tract more clearly.
• You might be instructed to hold your urine before the scan.
Clothing & Accessories
• Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing without metal fasteners, zippers, or buttons.
• Remove jewelry, piercings, watches, hearing aids, and other metallic objects before the scan.
Medical Conditions & Pregnancy
• Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or suspect pregnancy.
• If you have metal implants, pacemakers, or any medical devices, notify the technician.
• Discuss any claustrophobia concerns in advance; a mild sedative can be provided if necessary.
Medication Guidelines
• Most medications can be taken as usual, but confirm with your doctor regarding any necessary adjustments.
• If you are diabetic and take Metformin, your doctor may advise stopping it temporarily before the scan.
Breathing & Motion Instructions
• You may be asked to hold your breath briefly during the scan to obtain clearer images.
• Remain still during the procedure to avoid motion blur
