    Test Preparation

To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guideline:

    • General Preparation:
      • You may be asked to change into a hospital gown to avoid interference from metal in clothing.
      • Remove metal objects such as jewelry, belts, piercings, or hearing aids.
      • If you have metal implants, pacemakers, or artificial joints, inform your doctor, as some metal devices can affect MRI scans.
    • Fasting & Medication:
      • Fasting is usually not required, but if the MRI involves contrast dye, you may need to fast for 4–6 hours before the test.
      • Inform your doctor about any medications you’re taking, especially if you have kidney problems (important for contrast dye use).
    • Contrast Injection (if required):
      • Some MRIs require a contrast agent (gadolinium) for clearer images.
      • If you have a history of allergies or kidney disease, inform your doctor before the test.
      Sedation (if needed):
      • If you have claustrophobia or trouble staying still, sedation may be recommended.
    • During the MRI:
      • The test can take 30 to 60 minutes. You must stay still for clear images.
      • You may hear loud knocking sounds from the machine. Earplugs or headphones may be provided.
