    Test Preparation

To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guideline:

    General Preparation:

    • Wear loose, comfortable clothing without metal zippers, buttons, or accessories.
    • Remove jewelry, piercings, eyeglasses, hearing aids, and metallic objects.
    • Inform the technician if you have metal implants (pacemakers, aneurysm clips, stents, screws, plates, or cochlear implants).

    Fasting & Medication:

    • Fasting may be required (your doctor will provide instructions if needed).
    • Continue taking prescribed medications unless instructed otherwise.
    •  If contrast dye is required, inform your doctor if you have kidney disease or contrast allergies.

    Special Considerations:

    •  Inform the technician if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
    • If you have claustrophobia, discuss sedation options with your doctor.

Some patients may require a lumbar puncture (spinal tap) before the scan to introduce contrast dye into the cerebrospinal fluid.
