The Water’s View is a special angled X-ray of the skull, mainly used to evaluate the facial bones and sinuses, especially the maxillary sinuses (located under the eyes).

It provides a clearer view of:

• Maxillary sinuses
• Orbital floor (eye socket)
• Nasal cavity
• Zygomatic bones (cheekbones)

Description

Test Preparation

No Fasting Required:
o No need to avoid food or drink before the test.
Clothing & Accessories:
o Wear comfortable clothing. You may be asked to wear a hospital gown.
o Remove all metal items from the head and neck area:
Eyeglasse
Earrings
Hairpins
Neck chains
Dentures (if advised)
Hearing aids
 Inform the Radiologist If:
o You are pregnant or think you might be, to avoid unnecessary radiation exposure.
o You’ve had recent facial trauma or surgery.
 During the Procedure:
o You will be asked to tilt your head and rest your chin on the X-ray plate.
o Stay still while the image is taken to ensure a clear result.
o A lead apron may be provided to cover your body and reduce radiation exposure
