An X-Ray Skull AP View is a radiographic test that captures a front-to-back image of the skull. “AP” stands for Anteroposterior, meaning the X-ray beam passes from the front of the head to the back.

This test is commonly done to:
• Evaluate skull bones after trauma
• Detect fractures, tumors, or infections
• Identify congenital skull abnormalities
• Monitor bone changes in conditions like Paget’s disease

    Description

    Test Preparation

     No Fasting or Special Diet Needed:
    o Eat and drink as usual before the test.
    Clothing:
    o You may be asked to change into a hospital gown.
    o Remove any jewelry, eyeglasses, hairpins, or metal objects from the head and neck area.
     Inform the Radiologist If:
    o You are pregnant or suspect pregnancy – X-rays involve radiation.
    o You have had any recent head injuries or surgeries.
     During the Test:
    o You will be asked to sit, stand, or lie still while the X-ray is taken.
    o It’s important to stay still to avoid blurry images.
