Test Preparation
This test requires minimal preparation. Here’s what you need to know:
Before the Test:
• Clothing: You may be asked to change into a gown and remove any clothing covering the pelvic/lower back area.
• Jewelry & Metal Objects: Remove items like belts, piercings, or any metallic accessories near the waist or hips.
• Pregnancy: Inform the radiology technician if you are pregnant or may be pregnant—special shielding may be used.
• Medical Conditions: Let the technician know about any mobility issues, implants, or previous surgeries.
During the Test:
• You will lie on your side on the X-ray table with the right side facing up or down, depending on the required angle.
• The technician will position your body to get the best view of the right SI joint.
• You must remain still during the exposure, and you may be asked to hold your breath briefly to avoid motion blur.
