An X-ray of the Right Leg (AP View) is a diagnostic imaging test that uses low-dose radiation to capture a front-to-back (anterior to posterior) view of the entire right leg, including the femur (thigh bone), knee, tibia and fibula (lower leg bones), and ankle.

This test helps in evaluating:
• Fractures or bone injuries
• Bone deformities
• Infections
• Tumors
• Joint problems
• Leg length discrepancies

    Test Preparation

Generally, no special preparation is required, but here are some standard instructions:

     Before the Test:
    • Clothing: You may be asked to wear a hospital gown and remove any clothing or accessories (like jewelry or watches) around the leg area.
    • Pregnancy: Inform the radiologist/technician if you’re pregnant or may be pregnant — even though this is a low-radiation test, extra precautions may be taken.
    • Previous Implants or Injuries: Let them know if you have metal implants, surgical plates, or screws in your leg.

     During the Test:
    • You will be asked to lie down or stand, depending on the equipment and the area being examined.
    • The leg must be kept straight and still while the X-ray is being taken to avoid blurry images.
    • The technician may reposition your leg for different views if required.
