Description
Test Preparation
No special preparation is generally needed, but here’s what to do:
• Fasting: Generally not required, unless advised specifically by your doctor (usually for children).
• Empty stomach may be recommended for infants or young children undergoing sedation.
• Hydration: The patient may be encouraged to drink water beforehand for better bladder filling.
• Consent: A written consent form is usually required as this is an invasive procedure.
• Inform the radiologist/technician if:
o The patient is pregnant or possibly pregnant
o There is any history of urinary tract infection, allergy to contrast dye, or any medical conditions
