300.00

An X-Ray L-S Spine Lateral Extension is a special side-view X-ray of the lumbosacral spine (lower back) taken while the patient is in an extended position (arching the back slightly backward). It is typically part of a dynamic or functional spinal study to assess the spine’s movement and stability.

    Test Preparation

Preparation for this X-ray is simple but important to ensure clear imaging.

     Clothing:
    • Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes.
    • You may be asked to change into a hospital gown for the exam.
     Remove Metal Objects:
    • Take off all metallic items, such as belts, zippers, jewellery, or body piercings around the lower back, waist, or hips.
    Fasting:
    • Not required for this test.
    Bowel Preparation (If Advised):
    • In some cases, a mild laxative or enema might be recommended the night before to reduce bowel gas, which can obscure spine details. This is typically advised only if bowel contents might affect imaging quality.
      Pregnancy:
    • Inform the radiology staff if you are or might be pregnant, as X-rays are usually avoided during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary.
