X-RAY Dorsal Spine (AP)

300.00

An X-Ray Dorsal Spine (AP View) is a front-to-back (anteroposterior) X-ray of the thoracic spine, also known as the dorsal spine. It includes the 12 vertebrae in the middle section of your back, between the cervical (neck) and lumbar (lower back) spine. This view helps in assessing the bones, alignment, and structure of the dorsal vertebrae.

    Test Preparation

Most patients don’t need special preparation, but here’s what to know:

    • Clothing: You may be asked to wear a hospital gown.
    • Remove metal objects: Take off any jewelry, belts, or metallic accessories around your chest or back.
    • Bowel Preparation (if advised): In some cases, a mild laxative or enema might be recommended before the test to clear bowel gas or stool, which could obscure the view of the spine.
    • Fasting: Not required.
    • Pregnancy: Always inform the technician if you are or may be pregnant.

    During the Test
    • You’ll lie on your back on the X-ray table.
    • The technician will properly position your body and X-ray machine to capture a clear AP view of your dorsal spine.
    • You’ll be asked to stay still and may need to hold your breath briefly during the image.
    • The process is quick and painless, typically taking 5–10 minutes.

    After the Test
    • You can resume normal activities immediately.
    • A radiologist will review the images and send a report to your doctor, who will discuss the results and next steps if needed.
