Test Preparation
To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guideline:
Fasting Before the Test
• Do not eat or drink anything for at least 6-8 hours before the test.
• Avoid smoking or chewing gum as they can increase stomach secretions and affect image clarity.
Medication Guidelines
• Inform your doctor about any medications, especially if you take drugs for diabetes, high blood pressure, or acid reflux.
• Some medications may need to be temporarily paused before the test.
Clothing & Personal Items
• Wear loose, comfortable clothing. You may need to change into a hospital gown.
• Remove jewelry, eyeglasses, or metal objects that could interfere with the X-rays.
Inform Your Doctor If:
• You have a history of allergies to contrast materials.
• You are pregnant or suspect pregnancy (alternative tests may be recommended).
• You have a history of swallowing difficulties, previous GI surgeries, or existing conditions like GERD.
