X-RAY Abdomen Supine View

300.00

An X-Ray of the Abdomen (Supine View) is a diagnostic imaging test taken while the patient is lying flat on their back (supine position). This view helps in detecting:

  • Intestinal blockages (bowel obstruction)
  • Abnormal gas patterns in the intestines
  • Abdominal masses or tumors
  • Kidney stones or gallstones
  • Enlargement of organs (liver, spleen, kidneys, etc.)
  • Ascites (fluid buildup in the abdomen)
  • Foreign objects in the digestive tract

This test is commonly performed along with an erect (standing) abdominal X-ray for a more comprehensive diagnosis.

Description

Test Preparation

To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guideline:

 Fasting Requirement
• No fasting is required unless specifically instructed by your doctor.
• In some cases, you may need to avoid eating or drinking for 4-6 hours before the test for clearer imaging.
Bowel Preparation (If Advised by Doctor)
• Some patients may be asked to take a laxative or enema before the test to reduce gas and stool that may obstruct the view.
• Avoid gas-producing foods (beans, dairy, carbonated drinks) the night before the test.
Clothing & Accessories
• Wear loose, comfortable clothing without metal zippers, buttons, or belts.
• Remove jewelry, piercings, and any metal objects before the scan.
Medical Conditions & Pregnancy
• Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or suspect pregnancy, as X-rays involve radiation exposure.
• A lead apron may be provided for radiation protection if necessary.
 Motion & Positioning Instructions
• You will be asked to lie flat on your back on the X-ray table.
• Stay still and hold your breath for a few seconds while the image is taken
