Why is the Test Done?
• To assess symptoms of urinary difficulty
• To detect obstruction in the urinary tract (e.g., enlarged prostate, urethral stricture)
• To evaluate incomplete bladder emptying
• To monitor patients with neurological disorders affecting bladder function
• To track progress after treatment or surgery for urinary conditions
Test Procedure:
• The patient urinates into a special uroflowmeter device that records:
o Flow rate (ml/sec)
o Total volume of urine
o Duration of urination
• No needles or anesthesia required
• Test is performed in privacy and takes only a few minutes
• Normal urge to urinate is important for accurate results
