Why It’s Done:
This test helps in diagnosing:
• Chyluria (milky or cloudy urine due to the presence of lymphatic fluid)
• Lymphatic-urinary fistula
• Parasitic infections such as filariasis (especially in tropical and subtropical regions)
• Trauma or obstruction of the lymphatic system
Sample Collection:
• A random or 24-hour urine sample may be collected, depending on clinical indications.
• The sample is visually inspected and may be tested chemically for fat content.
