Description
Purpose of the Test:
• Diagnose acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), especially in T-cell ALL
• Differentiate between lymphoid and myeloid leukemias
• Help identify immature lymphoid cells in bone marrow or blood
• Evaluate acute leukemia cases to help with classification
What the Test Involves:
• A blood or bone marrow sample is collected
• The test detects TdT enzyme activity through immunohistochemistry (IHC) or flow cytometry
• Positive TdT activity suggests immature lymphocytes, which are a hallmark of acute leukemia
