Test Preparation
To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guideline:
Fasting Requirement
• Do not eat or drink for at least 6-8 hours before the test to ensure clear imaging.
• You may drink small sips of water if necessary.
Medication Guidelines
• Most medications can be taken as usual, but inform your doctor if you are on:
• Blood thinners (e.g., Warfarin, Aspirin, Clopidogrel) – You may need to stop them temporarily.
• Diabetes medications (Metformin, Insulin, etc.) – Adjustments may be required.
Contrast Injection Considerations
• A contrast dye is injected through the T-tube to highlight the bile ducts.
• Inform your doctor if you have:
• Allergies to contrast dye or iodine.
• Kidney disease or reduced kidney function.
Clothing & Accessories
• Wear loose, comfortable clothing.
• Remove jewellery, metal objects, and piercings before the scan.
Medical Conditions & Pregnancy
• Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or suspect pregnancy.
• Notify the technician about any previous bile duct or liver issues.
