Description
Why It’s Done:
• To diagnose systemic sclerosis (scleroderma) and determine the risk of more severe forms of the disease
• To assess the presence of autoimmune disorders, especially in individuals with symptoms such as skin thickening, joint pain, or internal organ involvement
• To help in the monitoring and management of systemic sclerosis
• To evaluate patients with symptoms suggesting autoimmune diseases, such as Raynaud’s phenomenon, lung issues, or gastrointestinal problems
• To differentiate between various autoimmune diseases that may share overlapping symptoms
Preparation:
• No special preparation is typically required for this test.
• A blood sample will be collected, usually from a vein in the arm.
• Inform your doctor about any autoimmune conditions, medications, or recent infections, as they may influence test results.
