Description
Why It’s Done:
• To screen for latent TB infection, especially in high-risk individuals
• To help diagnose active TB disease in combination with other clinical assessments
• To test individuals who have received the BCG (Bacille Calmette-Guérin) vaccine, as the test is not affected by the vaccine
• To screen healthcare workers, travelers, immigrants, and others at risk for TB exposure
• To monitor patients before starting immunosuppressive therapy
Preparation:
• No special preparation such as fasting is needed for this test.
• Inform your doctor about any current infections, medications, or recent vaccinations, as these can affect the immune response.
• Stay well-hydrated and relaxed before the blood draw to make sample collection easier.
• Follow any specific instructions provided by your healthcare provider if additional tests are scheduled alongside this one.
