An MRI Whole Body Diffusion (DWI – Diffusion-Weighted Imaging) is a specialized imaging technique used to detect abnormal tissue growth, tumors, inflammation, and infections at an early stage. This scan focuses on how water molecules move within tissues, helping identify cancer, metastases, strokes, and neurological disorders before structural changes appear.

It is commonly used for:

  • Cancer screening – Detecting tumors and metastases
  • Neurological disorders – Identifying brain abnormalities
  •  Infections & inflammation – Such as abscesses or autoimmune diseases
  •  Early-stage disease detection – Before visible structural changes

This scan is typically performed without contrast, but a gadolinium-based contrast agent may be used in some cases for enhanced imaging.
