Test Preparation
To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guideline:
Fasting Requirement
• Do not eat or drink for 4-6 hours before the scan to improve image clarity.
• You may drink water, but avoid caffeinated, dairy-based, or sugary drinks.
Contrast Injection Considerations
• A gadolinium-based contrast agent is administered through an IV.
• Inform your doctor if you have:
o Kidney disease or reduced kidney function, as contrast may not be safe.
o A history of allergies to contrast agents or medications.
Clothing & Accessories
• Wear loose, comfortable clothing without metal zippers, buttons, or fasteners.
• Remove jewelry, watches, piercings, hearing aids, or any metallic objects before the scan.
Medical Conditions & Pregnancy
• Notify your doctor if you are pregnant or suspect pregnancy.
• If you have metal implants, pacemakers, or any medical devices, inform the technician.
• If you have claustrophobia, inform your doctor in advance. A mild sedative can be given.
Medication Guidelines
• Most medications can be taken as usual, but consult your doctor regarding any specific adjustments.
• If you are diabetic and take Metformin, check with your doctor about any necessary modifications.
Breathing Instructions
• You may be asked to hold your breath for short periods during the scan to obtain clearer images.
