Test Preparation
To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guideline:
Clothing & Accessories:
Wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing without metal (zippers, buttons, or snaps).
Remove jewelry, piercings, watches, eyeglasses, and any metallic objects.
Medical History & Implants:
Inform your doctor or technician if you have any metal implants, pacemakers, artificial joints, aneurysm clips, or hearing aids.
Notify them if you have a history of kidney disease (if contrast dye is required).
Fasting (If Contrast is Required):
If a contrast dye (gadolinium) is needed, you may be asked to avoid eating or drinking for 4–6 hours before the scan.
Pregnancy & Claustrophobia:
Inform the radiologist if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
If you have claustrophobia, ask your doctor about sedation or open MRI options.
Medications:
Continue taking your regular medications, unless your doctor advises otherwise.
Arrival & Procedure:
Arrive at least 30 minutes before the appointment to complete paperwork.
The MRI scan usually takes 30–60 minutes, during which you must stay still to get clear images.
