An MRI CV Junction is an imaging test used to evaluate the craniovertebral (CV) junction, which is the area where the skull meets the upper cervical spine (neck). This area includes important structures such as the brainstem, spinal cord, vertebrae, and arteries. An MRI of the CV junction helps diagnose:

  • Congenital abnormalities (e.g., Chiari malformation)
  • Spinal cord compression or abnormalities
  • Trauma or fractures in the craniovertebral region
  • Infections affecting the bones or soft tissues
  • Tumors or cysts
  •  Vascular anomalies (e.g., vertebral artery compression)
