General Preparation:

  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing without metal (or use the hospital gown if provided).
  • Remove jewelry, hair accessories, eyeglasses, hearing aids, and any metallic objects.
  • Inform the technician if you have metal implants (pacemaker, cochlear implants, metal plates, etc.).
  • Remove makeup, as some products contain metallic particles.

Fasting & Medication:

  • No fasting is needed unless contrast dye is used (your doctor will inform you).
  • Continue regular medications unless instructed otherwise.
  • If contrast is required, inform the doctor if you have a history of kidney disease or allergies to contrast dye.

Special Considerations:

  • Let the technician know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you have claustrophobia, sedation options may be available (discuss this with your doctor).
  • If you have hearing difficulties, let the radiologist know in advance.
